Why Glamorgan university?

The THES rates Glamorgan Business School as one of the top in the UK for the quality of its teaching.

....and from the university's website:

The outstanding reputation of our Business School is based on our three consecutive ‘excellent’ ratings in the national assessments of teaching quality, which have contributed to the Daily Telegraph classification of the University of Glamorgan as a ‘first division university’.

The largest Business School in Wales, 16th largest in the UK and is among only 20 UK Business Schools to have received Excellent ratings from the Government's Teaching Quality Assessment body. The Times Good University Guide 2001 named the School in the top five in the country for Business Studies.

One student's impressions of the university:

This transcript is reproduced with permission from Zubin Sethna who sent it to his fellow MSc students on the e-group via which the group maintains its dynamics when not at one of the two executive weekends:

Hello everyone

Yes that's right, UoG were honoured with a visit from a very special guest yesterday.....unfortunately he must have left before I arrived! (somehow I knew Robin would get in there first with the 'truth' !!) A very fruitful day....I had gone to Cardiff University first to see a contact about ideas to do with my diss.... Then moved onto UoG. (and eventually on to Reading University!) First of all, I have to comment on the tidiness of the place, and especially the office of Mr Robin Croft. A cosy little place with a custom built window overlooking the courtyard with all its hussle and bussle...teeming with young men and women. I was especially pleased to see that the Wooden Love Spoon takes pride of place on Robin's shelf, right next to his other love, Stephen Brown's Post Modern Marketing2 ! A photo of the entire MSc1 group also resides in a silver frame, right next to his monitor...a constant reminder of the fun times had at the first two weekends. Actually, the weather was very kind to us as I received a comprehensive, personal tour of the university. (They have a very professional business centre where upto 500 delegates can be housed...bookings for company events through my good offices please!) Robin, I'll forward your 'cut' onto you. Half way through, and as we were walking down the corridors, we listened out for (and heard!!) the booming, melodic tones of ...... guess who ?!?!....as he lectured on Entrepreneurial Studies. I actually need face-to-face contact every so often, in order to bounce ideas etc....and to this extent, yesterday has been of immense help to me. I have a much clearer understanding of where I am taking my whole diss. I would thoroughly recommend that anyone who has the chance/opportunity to go, does so. If nothing else, at least go and secure your parking space for the graduation next July....finding a space is a nightmare ! We later visited Haydn in his office (a nice corner plot!) where he served us 'Kaffee und Kuchen' (coffee and cake) whilst we discussed the 30 powerpoint slides which have been prepared for Graham's lecturing session next week. So, Robin and Haydn, thank you very much for your hospitality and your kind words of encouragement:-) Cheers, Zubin.
